Highlander’s,

It was a great week for Hazen Basketball.  The Hazen Boys Varsity team beat Kennedy and Tyee to take the top spot in the Seamount League.  Our select teams had a little tougher weekend going 5-5 for the weekend.  If you get a chance to come out and support the Varsity team this week they have games on Wed, Friday, and Saturday.

Just a reminder, Hazen Select Night is on January 27th at Hazen’s home game against Renton High School.  We would like to have all players there for the varsity game at 7pm.   We will have a spot reserved for all the player’s behind the varsity bench for Hazen Select player’s.  During halftime, all the teams will be announced and the players will get to go out on the main court.  Please have your player’s wear their game jersey’s that night.  Also, our Hazen Select 8th grade team will be scrimmaging Renton’s 8th grade team during the halftime of the JV game. They will need to be there by 5:15 to get ready for their scrimmage.  I’ve also arranged for the Hazen Booster Club to have a table at the game with spirit wear, socks, and duffle bags.  If you are planning on buying stuff that will be the best night.  The duffle bags have a 4 year warranty so if you order one now your player will use it through high school.  Plus, this is a chance to help out the booster club who does so much for our program.  This is a big night for Hazen Select so please do your best to make it.

Our Hazen Select All-Star of the week was Justin Sikes from our 6th grade green team.  Justin played great over the weekend but more importantly showed leadership when his team was down.  He also kept positive and did whatever the coaches asked of him.  Justin gets to sit on the bench with the high school player’s during Hazen’s home game next Saturday at 6pm against Bainbridge.  Way to go Justin!!!

Finally, I had the chance to see a bunch of Select games this weekend but thought I would mention one moment.  Our 4th grade team was in a close game on Saturday.  With 10 seconds to go and down by 1 point Marcus brought the ball up the court and hit a 15 foot jumper to win the game at the buzzer.  Even I was jumping around and excited for him and the team.  Way to go Marcus!  Thanks
