Highlander’s,
It was another good weekend for Hazen Basketball. Our Varsity team beat Renton at Renton for the first time in years, it was a great game. During halftime of the JV game our 6th grade Blue team represented Hazen Select very well. I won’t mention the score but the 6th graders dominated the Renton team. I can’t tell you how many people came up to me and said WOW. Way to go Highlander’s!
Hazen Select also had a good weekend. We went 3-4 over the weekend and lost some close games. Our 6th grade green team put on a display of heart in their loss that I would like to mention. Because people were unavailable due to the holiday’s and for health reasons, they were only able to suit up 5 players. After a long battle the game was close but the 6th grader’s were ahead with minutes to go. Then… a player fouled out. Then…. a player had to sit out for health reasons. With 3 players left, the green team lost by one point in the end. The loss is not the moral to this story. The moral to this story is that our kid’s kept playing hard no matter what. We cannot say enough how proud we are of this team. Way to go 6th grade green!
I would like to say a big Thankyou to all the player’s and parents for donating shoes. We ended up collecting nearly 50 pairs of shoes in a short amount of time. I’m sure some kid’s in Micronesia will put them to good use.
Lastly, we have no scheduled practices or games until after the first of the year. Games will start up on Jan 2-3. Please check the Peak Basketball schedule for times.
